Tax Resources for 2026
Our tax appointments with the AARP will open on Tuesday, January 20. Appointments are on Saturdays and will begin on February 7.
Many of the links on this page have not yet been updated for 2026, including those for Oregon and federal forms and instructions. Some paper federal forms will be available at the library.
Other AARP tax help sites can be located here. The AARP now offers free online filing with coaching.
Cash Oregon offers free in-person and online tax filing help. Income limits and other restrictions apply.
The Oregon Department of Revenue lists additional places to get filing help here.
Need forms?
Limited numbers of federal tax instruction booklets and forms are available at the Library.
You can find federal tax forms and instructions for the 2025 tax year at the IRS website. This link will become live when 2025 forms and instructions are available. Free File has been closed.
Oregon state tax forms are not distributed through public libraries. They are available online here. Paper forms can be ordered through the same link.
Questions?
Any librarian will be happy to direct you to resources for doing your taxes. Librarians, however, are not tax preparers. Specific questions should be directed to the tax hotlines. The Federal government offers assistance online or over the phone at 1-800-829-1040.
The Oregon Department of Revenue has phone help available at 503-378-4988 or 800-356-4222, 7:30 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, with the exception of 9-11am on Thursdays. Phone help is not available on holidays. Appointments for in-person help can be made at the Salem and regional offices. Help is also available by email at questions.dor@oregon.gov.
