Living Room Gallery Art Program

Karin Anderseon
Current Display

The current Living Room Gallery featured artist is Karin Anderson. Karen is a Portland, Oregon–based watercolor artist whose work celebrates storytelling through art. She paints luminous botanicals, landscapes, still lifes, and cityscapes that invite viewers into intimate, vividly observed moments. Known for her realism, rich color, and translucent light, Karin attributes her mastery to “miles behind the brush” and years of dedicated practice.

Raised in Portland, she studied at Oregon State University and Oregon Health Sciences University before a career as a Burn ICU nurse led her back to her lifelong passion for art. Her work has been featured in regional exhibitions, and she is a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon.

Exhibit Space

The purpose of the Living Room Gallery is to support and encourage the pursuit and appreciation of creativity by displaying the finest examples of artwork created in and around our community. It provides an opportunity to honor and celebrate cultural aspects of our community. The first artist display was in June 2012.  More than 25 local artists have displayed their art in the Living Room Gallery since the beginning of the program.

The exhibit space is located in the central fireplace area at the Tualatin Public Library. This is a large but cozy room with a huge central fireplace and comfortable chairs and tables for lounging and reading. The space is surrounded by large magazine racks above which is the gallery space. The space can accommodate 10-18 medium to large paintings (30 inches being a maximum framed height.)

Acceptance for Display

Artists interested in participating in this program will go through a process of sharing samples their work for jury. Five JPGs of current work can be sent via email to the Program Coordinator and Gallerist, Angela Wrahtz, for review. Upon acceptance, Ms. Wrahtz will work with the artist on which specific pieces will be used for the display. The artist will ultimately submit an inventory of works to be included in the solo show. The Coordinator will discuss/offer display periods to find an period that is mutually agreeable. Art exhibits are currently featured for 3-6 month display periods.

If you are interested in displaying your artwork or have questions, please contact coordinator Angela Wrahtz.
