Tualatin Commons Plan

Background

Tualatin Commons is the result of a public/private partnership starting in the early 1990s that began to create an identifiable downtown in Tualatin. This 19-acre site in the town center was the site of a smelly pet food factory fronting on a major road.  The City dedicated the Commons on May 20, 1994.

Summary

The Tualatin Commons includes:

• 3-acre artificial lake
• wide public promenade
• plazas
• interactive fountain

Seven parcels have been privately developed around the lake, bringing in uses that wouldn't have located in a suburban town center without a public amenity such as the Lake of the Commons:

• hotel
• apartments and condos
• Class A commercial offices
• restaurants

Central Design District

The Tualatin Commons is the majority of the area within the Central Design District.  Refer to the Tualatin Development Code (TDC) for more information:
