Summary

Long-range planning involves maintaining and updating the Tualatin Community Plan and Development Code to plan for the future land development in Tualatin consistent with goals and aspirations of the City Council and community. The Planning Division staff works with the public, advisory committees, and the City Council to help:

  • Understand the historic context of Tualatin and its development and their relevance today
  • Understand the needs and wants of residents of, workers in, and visitors to Tualatin
  • Foresee community demographic and economic change through information sources such as the U.S. Census
  • Shape the physical future of the community into an excellent city through policy and urban design principles
  • Understand, maintain, and benefit from regional relationships with federal, state, and neighboring local governments
  • Accommodate population and employment growth through public and private development, redevelopment, and infill projects
