Noise & Work Hour Variance

Construction such as excavation, demolition, alteration, or repair of a building is allowed between the hours of 7:00 am and 6:00 pm, 7-days a week. Construction work to be performed outside those hours must be approved in advance by the City Engineer.

Noise & Work Hour Variances are subject to the following conditions:

  • All vehicle traffic must be arranged to minimize backing motions involving backup beepers.
  • No outdoor speakers, radios, or other noise generators shall be used.
  • Any lights used are to be directed away from any residential property as much as possible.
  • If complaints are received by the City, your operations may need to be modified to respond to the complaints.

Please note: this variance process is intended to address large construction projects. Use of “power equipment” such as power tools or equipment including, but not limited to: lawn mowers, leaf blowers, lawn edgers, snow removal equipment, hand tools, saws, drills, and/or other similar lawn or construction tools, when used for home or building repair, maintenance, landscaping, alteration, or home manual arts projects is allowed between 7:00am and 10:00pm.
