Tualatin Opens Cooling Center at Juanita Pohl Center Ahead of Weekend High Temperatures
Due to the excessive heat watch issued for the metro-area, the City of Tualatin is opening a cooling center at the Juanita Pohl Center for anyone looking to seek relief from the heat this Saturday, June 26 through Monday, June 28. The Pohl Center reopened on June 21 for drop-in visits only, but will be extending operating hours to provide shelter during the hottest parts of the day.
Juanita Pohl Center
8513 SW Tualatin Rd
Tualatin, OR 97062
Cooling Center Hours
1pm-7pm | Saturday, June 26
1pm-7pm | Sunday, June 27
10am-9pm | Monday, June 28
The Pohl Center will be operating under the current Oregon Health Authority COVID-19 guidelines for the safety and health of the community. The City thanks everyone for complying with mask and physical distancing requirements and asks that you refrain from gathering as a group or bringing pets inside the Pohl Center.
The high daytime temperatures and warm overnight lows will result in high heat risk and heat related stress. High temperature records that will likely be broken over the next few days will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses.
The City would like to remind everyone to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the direct sun, avoid strenuous work during the warmest part of the day, and check on vulnerable relatives and neighbors. Water bottles can be filled at drinking fountains within all major City parks. You may also visit one of our many water access points to keep cool along the Tualatin River (listed below).
