2022 - Another Busy Year for Tualatin Moving Forward Construction

Transportation system improvements will be underway this year in many parts of the City as part of the Tualatin Moving Forward bond program. Nine projects will begin or continue construction this spring, summer, and fall.

Here’s the rundown on construction planned for 2022:

  • Tualatin Rd: Sweek Drive to Community Park (Phase 2) – A new sidewalk to improve pedestrian safety and access.
  • 95th Avenue and Avery St (Phase 2) – Work to improve safety and access in the area around Tualatin Elementary School: crosswalks, intersection upgrades, better signage and traffic controls. This project also includes improvements at 93rd Avenue.  Scheduled to start construction in June and continue all summer while school is on summer break to minimize impacts.
  • Boones Ferry Rd Corridor Sidewalk/Bike Lane Project (Phase 1) – The first phase of construction is likely to begin mid-summer 2022; Phase 2 will be completed in 2023. Most of the work this year will be on sidewalks, curb ramps and along the shoulder of the road. Traffic flow will be maintained in both directions.
  • 65th Ave Near Meridian Park Hospital – New mid-block crossing with flashing beacons. 65th is a busy street, so there will be some impacts to traffic.
  • 2022 Neighborhood Traffic Safety Projects – Four sites will see construction starting late summer or early fall:
    • Boones Ferry Rd at The Commons – New pedestrian-activated flashing beacon at the existing crossing.
    • Martinazzi Ave at Fred Meyer Driveway – Sidewalk and ramp improvements; bus stop relocated to north side of driveway.
    • Martinazzi Ave at Mohawk – Ramp improvements and flashing beacons installed at the existing crosswalk.
    • Avery Street at Tualatin-Sherwood Road – New sidewalk.
  • Hazelbrook Area Project – Includes work on Jurgens Avenue, Hazelbrook Road, and Tualatin Road: upgrades to existing crosswalks and a new crosswalk on Tualatin Road, striping on Hazelbrook and Jurgens for new bike lanes, and sidewalk/ramp improvements at the Hazelbrook/Jurgens intersection.

Three more projects wrapped up earlier this year: traffic signals and other improvements at the busy intersection of Martinazzi Avenue and Sagert Street; final striping and paving at the Garden Corner Curves; and another neighborhood traffic safety project at 50th Avenue and Wilke Road.

All of these projects are funded by Tualatin Moving Forward, the transportation bond program approved by voters in 2018. To date, 21 projects have been completed and another 13 are underway.
