Mayor's Note August 2025
August Mayor’s Note
Last month, we launched a new meal program at the Juanita Pohl Center on Tuesdays and Fridays. The Tualatin City Council committed $40,000 to continue providing these services after our longtime provider, Meals on Wheels People, announced in April that it would no longer offer them. You can make a reservation online and join us from 12 to 1pm. A $5 donation is encouraged but not required. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a meal and connect with others in our community.
In other exciting news, by working with our lobbyist partners, we advocated for funding for several projects in Tualatin during the state legislature’s “long session.” I’m pleased to share that we will receive $1.75 million to install seismic valves at all six of Tualatin’s existing reservoirs. These valves will prevent stored water from leaking into our distribution system in the event of an earthquake or other emergency. We expect this work to be completed in 2026.
I sincerely thank Senate President Rob Wagner, Representative Jules Walters, and our lobbyist, Thorn Run Partners, for their work in advocating for Tualatin this session. This project will make a big difference in our community’s resiliency efforts!
