Governor Kotek Orders Pause on Tolling

Tualatin City Council is very encouraged by the pause on tolling ordered by Governor Kotek on May 1st. City Officials and staff have worked extremely hard over the past several months, in collaboration with many other jurisdictions in the region, to advocate for a thorough analysis of tolling impacts. The two-year moratorium on tolling will allow the state additional time to work together with cities and counties to assess the I-205 Tolling Project and the Regional Mobility Pricing Project, and to consider whether there are other funding options available to complete the much needed infrastructure projects in the Portland Metro Region.

Additionally, we are pleased to see that a legislative task force has been convened to take a serious look at the many ways tolling may harm our communities, and to ensure the important questions and concerns raised by our community members are addressed before the state implements any tolls on our transportation system.
