Bond Playground & Park Improvements

Exciting updates are coming to Tualatin's playgrounds thanks to the Parks & Trials Bond! New and improved playground equipment at Ibach, Jurgens, and Atfalti Parks will be installed sometime this fall. After carefully reviewing a range of options, the Tualatin Park Advisory Committee made the selections best for each location. All the new features comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act for Accessibility and Safety. Be sure to check out the documents below to get a glimpse of the new playground features!

Atfalati Park Upgrades - COMPLETED!
Most of the Atfalai Park playground pieces were replaced in 2020. However, due to costs, not everything was upgraded at that time. Beginning September 5, 2023, the final upgrades will be made to the 2 to 5 year-old play area. And that is not all, thanks to the Bond, Atfalati Park will finally have a picnic shelter! Bringing the park in line with other parks of its size within the city. The new play equipment will feature new slides, and various fun, and exciting climbers, offering a plethora of developmental benefits, including balance, coordination, and cooperative play. And thanks to the suggestion from the Parks Advisory Committee, a shade canopy will be added to this bright play area. This project is expected to be complete in mid to late October depending on weather conditions. See the images below for a sneak peek at the updates.

Ibach Playground Updates
In 2019, thanks to the Oregon State Department of Parks and Recreation Local Government Grant, along with matching funds from the City, a much-needed update to this beloved playground was completed. However, not all outdated play features could be replaced at the time. Now, thanks to the voter-approved bond the final pieces will be replaced beginning this October bringing joy to the community far into the future! From the We-Saw, an inclusive seesaw that encourages participation from all ages and abilities, to the Boppity Bridge which challenges balance and coordination, there is something for everyone to enjoy. And don't worry - the beloved Mastodon bones are here to stay! The 2-5 year old area has been replaced with new playground equipment and back open to the community.

Tween/Teen area upgrade is scheduled for spring 2024.

Jurgens Playground Updates - COMPLETED!
As part of the parks bond, Jurgens park also received a big upgrade in both the youth and tween/teen areas. The upgrades were selected by the community which includes two swing sets, and forest themed playstructure upgrades. Playground upgrades are completed and back open to the community.
