March Music and Arts
Music and arts rebound this March, with a bouquet of unmissable programs. Our thanks to the Friends of Tualatin Library for sponsoring many of our programs.
Sunday, March 3, 2:00 - 3:00 PM
Third Angle's Artistic Director Sarah Tiedemann brings a program of new and recent solo flute pieces that evoke the beauty of the night sky. Held at the Library Hearth.
Saturday, March 9, 11:00 - 11:45 PM
Portland Opera presents a special storytime focused on the beloved classic The Snowy Day. They'll share stories, songs and introduce kids to opera. One lucky family will win tickets to see the show at the Newmark Theater! For children ages 3 - 8. Held in the Community Room.
Sunday, March 10, 2:00 - 3:00 PM
Rosalyn Kliot was born in Lodz, Poland, after her parents escaped from the Klooga concentration camp in Estonia - a daring feat by two people who had already done the unthinkable, and fallen in love in the midst of horror. Hear the story that Rosalyn had to piece together from her parents over many years. This process of piecing her family's story echoes her work as a collage artist, and forms her unshakable belief in living with joy and love. For adults and teens. Held in the Community Room.
Ms. Kliot's vibrant collage work can be seen in our lobby display case from February 26 through March 10.
Saturday, March 16, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Northwest Dance Theatre is back with two ballets this Spring: Lichine's Graduation Ball, a comedy set in 1840s Vienna with music by Strauss, and La Bayadere, a story set in India with music by Minkus and choreography by Petipa. See both these classics presented by NWDT's talented troupe. For all ages. Held at the Library Hearth.
Sunday, March 17, 2:00 - 3:00 PM
Traditional Strings with New Songs and Stories: Lisa Lynne and Aryeh Frankfurter perform with two Celtic harps, the rare Swedish nyckelharpa, and more. These favorite troubadours return with new stories and songs - perhaps leaning a bit into the Celtic for the day. Held at the Library Hearth.
