Mayor's Note November 2025
November Mayor’s Note
I’m excited to share that the City of Tualatin is in the final stages of an innovative clean energy project. In partnership with InPipe Energy, Portland General Electric, and the Energy Trust of Oregon, we’re installing a hydro-powered microturbine system that generates renewable electricity from the natural flow of water in our distribution lines.
The turbine will replace an existing pressure-reducing valve, and once operational, it’s expected to produce more than 250,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity each year—enough to power our Tualatin City Services facility on Herman Road. We anticipate that the microturbine will begin generating power by the end of the year.
This forward-thinking project captures energy we were already using and puts it back to work, helping reduce costs and supporting Tualatin’s sustainability goals. It’s another example of how we’re investing in innovative solutions to create a more sustainable and resilient community for the future.
