Mayor's Note June 2025
June Mayor’s Note
I am excited to announce that work has begun on revitalizing Tualatin’s downtown. In 2022, the Tualatin Development Commission adopted the Core Opportunity Reinvestment Area Plan, which outlines a vision to strengthen the social, cultural, and economic vitality of central Tualatin. The plan includes funding for projects that enhance the community’s quality of life and create a vibrant downtown core, signaling the City’s commitment to supporting downtown revitalization.
The City has just launched the first of three phases in a 24-month process to implement key elements of this plan.
- Phase 1 - Identity and Placemaking (5 months)
- Phase 2 - Urban Design Charrette and Concepts (12 months)
- Phase 3 - Code Amendments for Design Standards (8 months)
This redevelopment will rejuvenate community spirit, enhance social cohesion, and help promote sustainable living practices. We can reconfigure our core area into a mosaic of vibrant, functional, and inclusive spaces that cater to the diverse needs of our community.
This process will be guided by a Community Advisory Committee (CAC), which held its first meeting on May 14. The CAC will serve as a champion for this process, and we look forward to engaging with the folks who live, work, and play in Tualatin as we revitalize Tualatin’s downtown.
