Mayor's Note December 2025 / January 2026
December / January Mayor’s Note
Winter Wellness & Snow and Ice Preparedness
As winter settles in, we encourage all residents to stay prepared, stay warm, and stay mindful of seasonal hazards like icy sidewalks and driveways. The City’s Snow and Ice Response Plan helps ensure safe travel and supports emergency services during snowstorms and freezing temperatures.
Our crews work to clear snow and ice as quickly and safely as possible, focusing on priority routes first. While we can’t treat every area at once, our response is organized into the following tiers:
- Emergency Routes
- Selected Arterials and Collector Streets
- Collector Streets
- Residential/Other (Residential streets are plowed once snow accumulation reaches 12 inches.)
Please remember that private streets are not maintained by the City.
Want to learn more about how we respond to winter weather? You can review the full Snow and Ice Response Plan here.
If you need a warm place to relax, visit the Library or Juanita Pohl Center during open hours—both serve as warming locations on cold days.
Let’s work together for a safe and healthy winter season. Stay warm, stay safe, and enjoy the cozy months ahead!
