H.E.R.O.E.S. Summer Camp
PROGRAM SUMMARY
The Tualatin Police Department’s H.E.R.O.E.S. (Helping Educate Responsible Outstanding Everyday Students) Summer Camp supports the Tigard-Tualatin School District’s core values: Be Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and Kind.
Designed for students entering 6th through 9th grades, the camp combines educational lessons with fun, engaging summer activities. Each year’s curriculum is updated to meet students’ needs and may include topics such as:
- The impact of crime on the community
- Healthy decision-making and goal setting
- Risks and alternatives to alcohol, tobacco, and drugs
- Conflict resolution
- Healthy relationships and self-image
- Juvenile law and procedures
Campers also enjoy recreational activities that promote teamwork, fitness, and problem-solving, along with field trips for swimming, bowling, laser tag, and other group activities.
ELIGIBILITY
The program is open to students entering grades 6–9. Tualatin residents receive priority registration. Students are expected to attend each day of their registered session, and reasonable accommodations are available to support individual needs.
STAFF
The camp is led by officers from the Tualatin Police School Resource Unit. Additional support includes a licensed school teacher serving as a liaison to the Tigard-Tualatin School District and recreation leaders from the City of Tualatin.
FUNDING
H.E.R.O.E.S. Summer Camp is supported through participant fees, community donations, the City of Tualatin General Fund, and the Tigard-Tualatin School District. Financial assistance is available, and no student has been turned away due to an inability to pay.
