Mayor's Note (May 2022)

Mayor Frank Bubenik Headshot

Public Service Recognition Week is May 1 - 7. For the last few years, I have written about our exceptional team of staff and the tremendous job they do serving our community. They continue to pursue the best for Tualatin and achieve incredible feats every day. As Mayor, it is a great honor to serve with such a team.

This year, I speak directly to the youth in our community that are pondering their future careers. I urge you to consider local government. There is a huge diversity of skills required to run a city. Do you have an interest in math and sciences? We hire engineers, accountants, and STEAM librarians. Is spending time outdoors with a different project every day more your speed? We hire arborists, recreation leaders, and utility technicians. Do you like cars or fixing things? We have a team of mechanics and maintenance technicians.

Plus, local government is meaningful. You can see the direct impact of your work on the community now and in the future. If you think this might be for you - reach out! We have many opportunities for youth to get to know our staff and the type of work they do.

Thank you to our City of Tualatin staff for everything you do for our community. And, welcome to our future local government staff!
