PROGRAM SUMMARY

TuPD (Tualatin Police Department) H.E.R.O.E.S. (Helping Educate Responsible Outstanding Everyday Students) Summer Camp focuses on promoting Tigard-Tualatin School District’s values, which are about being Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and Kind. Our summer component serves students who will be entering 6th through 9th grades and provides those students with opportunities for social and educational activities in the summer months.

The program curriculum is adapted from year to year.  Typical topics include:

  • The Effects of Crime on our Community
  • Risks and Alternatives to Alcohol, Tobacco, and Drugs
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Decision Making
  • Goal Setting
  • Healthy Relationships and Self-Image
  • Juvenile Law and Procedures

The program includes a recreational component that promotes teamwork, physical fitness, and strategic thinking. Students participate in field trips to nearby attractions for activities like swimming, bowling, laser tag, and games.

ELIGIBILITY

The program is open to students entering 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grades. Tualatin Residents receive first priority during program registration. Reasonable accommodations will be made to meet students’ needs. Students are requested and expected to attend every day of the session they register.
