Background: On August 26, 2013, the Tualatin City Council approved a Master Plan application for a proposed redevelopment of the former Kmart site near Tualatin’s front door.
CenterCal Properties, owners of Bridgeport Village and Nyberg Woods, submitted a Master Plan for the “Nyberg Rivers” project proposal to redevelop the former Kmart site and adjacent properties. The proposed Master Plan includes demolition of three existing buildings (including the former Kmart), construction of seven (7) buildings, access and public facilities improvements, parking, pedestrian, bicycle, and landscaping improvements.
If you would like to review the application materials, visit the master plan projects website. The Master Plan was reviewed by the City Council on July 22, 2013 and continued to August 7th. Meeting materials are available. Following the Master Plan process, the plan will be reviewed by the Architectural Review Board.
In the meantime, City officials will continue to work with the prospective developer to ensure the new development improves the transportation system, protects local access, adds bicycle and pedestrian amenities along the Tualatin River, and provides an attractive and welcoming entrance into Tualatin. Once an application is submitted, the plans will go through a public process, including a neighborhood meeting and public hearing before the City Council.
